I know I haven't really been around on LJ for a while...but I come back to skim through it today after weeks of neglecting it and...yeah...I guess it's a good thing I haven't been. I've been having certain thoughts about it lately, but after just spending ten minutes on it now, I have a whole bunch of..new thoughts. Thanks.
I'll also be downsizing my friend's list soon. Maybe then I'll come back a bit more regularly. Or maybe I'll just make up a new journal name...

I can't believe...well.. nevermind. Whatever. I'll just let it go. I'm sure its my own fault anyway.

03:31 am - omg it LIVES!!
So, a bit over a year ago, [info]oldphan and I got the random BRILLIANT idea to put together an audiobook recording of Leroux's Phantom of the Opera with different voice actors for each character. We intended to make it absolutely complete, but fully preformed, instead of just read. Not like a radio-play-ified version of the book, just the book itself (and an unabridged version, no de Mattos for us! We used mostly Bair's translation), but a bit more theatrical than your usual Phantom book-on-CD.
We cast the thing, then had to recast the thing, then had to RECAST the thing, until we finally had people that were able to work with the schedules and make the deadlines and now...FINALLY...the Forward and Chapter 1 are DONE! They aren't perfect, but they're our first attempt at this kind of thing, and we decided they're about as good as we can get them. Future chapters will be even better, but these are very enjoyable--So for all you Leroux Lovers out there, come listen and look forward to more very soon!

Links to listen to the chapters are on Oldphan's website:
The Leroux Audiobook Project

You can just listen to them there, or save target as, and put them on your computer or ipod or whatever if you want. They're for the phans' taking! Share with any other phans you know too! Spread them around!
Our editing skills will get better as we continue. Leave your thoughts in the guestbook on the site too, if you can!

eeeee! I'm so excited! I can't wait for Chapter 2 now! :D

Ok, so someone had my password and used it today, and I'm pretty positive I know who it is. It's changed now, and you know what, you can go to hell. I'm sure you'll enjoy it there as it's right up your alley anyway. The take-all give-nothing attitude is just downright violating, you know? Violator. I hope you're just ohso sadistically happy.

01:27 am - Quote of the day:
I've been rereading some old favorites lately, and the past couple days, it's been The Picture of Dorian Gray and I ran across this enthralling quote in the narrative which I'd forgotten...

"There are few of us who have not sometimes wakened before dawn, either after one of those dreamless nights that make us almost enamoured of death, or one of those nights of horror and misshapen joy, when through the chambers of the brain sweep phantoms more terrible than reality itself, and instinct with that vivid life that lurks in all grotesques, and that lends to Gothic art its enduring vitality, this art being, one might fancy, especially the art of those whose minds have been troubled with the malady of reverie."

mmmmmmmmmmmmmm........... It's got it all in one (very long) sentence!

Thoughts?? Discuss!!

Sorry for my distance lately, all! I've been trying so hard to get a handle on the emotional turmoil and figured that keeping silent about stuff was better lately than whining publicly and upsetting people. :P

But anyway...
Anyone watch All My Children? I don't, but this guy came into my store today:
Aiden Turner

He bought some home fragrance stuff for a gift and then I helped him pick out a face scrub. He was soooo tall! And he had an accent which I thought was Australian but IMDB says he's from the UK so *shrug* He was very nice though, unlike SOME celebrities *cough*.

I spent the whooooole day cleaning my store top to bottom because the president of the company is visiting tomorrow... and yet I have tomorrow off, so I won't even get to be there to take credit for the marvelousness I did. meh... I need the day off, though. I'm still recovering from the day of living as someone from the Victorian era in the living history reenactment museum on Long Island where Christine (the phan [info]wee_boat introduced me to!) works when she's not working at the ballet. It was awesome! She dressed me up in the full period clothing down to every accurate undergarment and did my hair all properly and we spent the day existing in a house from 1866, mainly working in the kitchen as tourists passed through, where I baked old fashioned biscuits in a 19th century wood stove! Christine made succotash and a roast and cranberry jelly! Chris, the blacksmith and broom-maker, came and loitered in our doorway until he could swipe a biscuit... And I gave one with jelly to Michael, a musician who was playing the harp in the parlor that day, because he gave me a harp lesson! Christine took me to see the other musician, Erik (*snicker*), who was playing the 19th century violin in one of the other houses in the village on the way to feed the pigs our vegetable scraps. The pigs were HUGE!! I also got to spin wool! And she showed me all the haunted houses in the village that were locked up that day... I want to go back! The houses were sooo cool! Everything there was sliced right out of the time period! Henry, one of the guys in charge, was trying to talk me into coming to work full time there, but it would be suuuuch a long commute to get to every day from the city... Worth it maybe, though. I learned so much history in just one day! And working with Christine would be so nice! Well, maybe I can go back to volunteer a few more times and see how it works out.
Julia wanted to come with me to photograph everything, and I really DID want pictures taken, but I didn't feel comfortable asking Christine last minute if Julia could tag along and it might have been awkward if she was there... Maybe next time now that I've seen it all.

hmmm what else has been up...
Oh! Julia, who will be living with me until she goes back to California for Christmas, at least, bought us a light for the tree! She found in one day what I couldn't find in months! Here's hoping it works and the leaves grow back... It's already growing leaves in all the wrong places (the non-bonsai places) but at least they're growing! Though the bugs never cease... I think it has aphids now *sigh*

Oh! if you haven't noticed, I now have wireless internet on my new desktop what my mom and stepdad sold me! So even though the laptop is DEAD (I can still hope for reviving it when it doesn't bring tears to my eyes to so much as look at it), I now am in fully working order! I have officially given Michael my 5.5-year-old desktop which saw me through college, and now, in theory, there will never again be epic and bruising battles over computer usage. My mom's hope is that this arrangement will help us get along much better and maybe we can even *gasp* start being NICE to each other? We'll see about that... She's coming to visit us in the first week of January! Which is why Julia has to have found her own place to live by then... Here's hoping Craigslist shall be her friend.

umumum what else... It's looking like my California trip will be one of the last weeks in January or maybe the first week of February. After that, I will probably go directly to Orlando and then come back here like I used to do in the good old days of freeeeedom!

What does everyone want for Christmas?? Let me know!
